Exercise
For every decade of life, adults lose 10% of their muscular strength.
Exercise can reverse that trend.
A study by the Royal Free Hospital in London found that after a 12 week exercise programme, older adults had increased their strength by as much as 30%!
This amounts to regaining 3 decades of lost strength.
Aqua-aerobics, or seated aerobics are particularly valuable because as well as improving muscle strength, these exercises help to improve balance - essential to avoid falls and the subsequent effect falls can have on general health and quality of life.
