Mediterranean Diet

Although there are regional variations to what we call a Mediterranean Diet, there are certain common features:

 

Fruit

Vegetables

Nuts

Pulses

Olive oil

Garlic

Herbs

All kinds of fish especially oily fish and seafood

Light meats

Dairy products such as cheeses, yoghurt

Starchy foods including pasta and potatoes

Low in red meats, saturated fats and processed foods

A glass of red wine taken with the meal is also considered beneficial
